fragments made into lighting

I love taking beautiful things out of context and finding new ways to use them. I found these wood fragments at an antique shop and thought they were fabulous. I wanted to preserve their aged beauty, so I made a mold of the original wood fragments and used the duplicates for my experimentation. I ended up wiring them and selling them as putti sconces. “Putti” means “cupids” in Italian. They are gilded in gold leaf and antiqued to a beautiful patina.
As you can see they line the salon of my home, giving great light and drama to the room. I always use natural beeswax sleeves on chandeliers and sconces.
