madeleine bergeres

madeleine bergeresOver the years I have noticed that a lot of upholstery manufacturers are making their pieces larger and larger in scale. I have always wanted my designs to stay true to the original designs of the period in which they were interpreting.

These are 2 new bergeres that are deep enough to be really comfortable in reading your favorite book. They’re painted in the Toscana finish and hand water gilded. The result is a very authentic look. I also love using muslin with upholstery tacks- truly old world. It allows the lines of the chair and the carving to show up. The pillows here add just the pop to make an 18th century design look fresh and new again.
